About us: Who are We

The idea of Travellers Africa was given birth by a set of working professionals with the primary intention of bringing together the three key stakeholders of the social sector i.e. NGOs, Volunteers, and Corporates, on a technology platform. It was inaugurated on the 22nd of March, 2019 and was registered as a Travel company on the 17th of April, 2023.

We exist because we believe that volunteering is a form of sustainable tourism. It minimizes the negative impacts of touristic activities on the environment, by contributing to maintaining and enhancing conservation through the return of revenues to protected areas, and the physical contribution of man-hours where needed.

We exist because we understand our volunteer’s goals. Whether altruistic or self-serving, volunteering abroad is one of the most popular ways to gain new life experiences and become a global citizen. This experience makes students more attractive to universities and makes job-seekers more attractive to employers, particularly when they volunteer in their field of proposed work or study, such as education, healthcare or natural sciences.

We exist because we believe in volunteers, who contribute both time and money. The majority of their payments stay within the destination country and goes to support the affiliated non-profit organization on the ground, which in turn is able to keep its charitable operations running, provide employment and support local businesses through trade and services. Volunteers also physically contribute by giving a large proportion of their time to perform hands-on work to benefit the non-profit organizations, local government institutions, civil service institutes and local communities.

Highlights of our programs:

Why are we Existing ?.

We exist because we have an optimistic view of human nature and we pursue our vision for a better world through harmony, by focusing on wildlife conservation and community development. We are confident in achieving the highest level of success through innovation, purposeful planning and persistence. Wildlife conservation and community development are the cornerstones of everything we do. In an African context, we believe the two are inseparable.

We exist because volunteering connects international travel companies with destination-based non-profit organizations and local partner businesses for mutual benefit. Our volunteer programs are the most affordable and regenerative way to immerse yourself in new cultures, connect with like-minded international volunteers and make a difference through travel.

if you ever want to make a real impact in a time of need, this is your time. Volunteer abroad from just $20 per day, including accommodation, meals and 24/7 in-country support. Join 126,000+ international volunteers and make your next vacation matter. Our staffs are all either in-country locals who we train and support, or Volunteer Alumni, who have been there, experienced the projects and seen what a difference they make.

Our plans for the future are big. We believe that meaningful travel provides a defining experience for young people as they move from adolescence into adulthood, and we know that the work we do transforms communities. Our team combines qualifications and many years of experience in the fields of tourism, education and social work in Tanzania. Our friendly and qualified supervisors are always there for you on the ground, here in Arusha, Tanzania where it has remained as Offices HQ for all of our operations.

Travellers Africa now supports a small network of locally operated volunteer projects across Africa. This partnership is very much based on co-operation, trust and open communication. This is also reflected in the approach that has been taken to recruiting volunteers. The focus is on establishing a community that each volunteer can become a part of and hence sharing the responsibility of achieving long-term objectives.
